Printed in-house free-standing hoarding for Sky

City Hoardings and sister company 989 Design Ltd were commissioned to build a bespoke printed free standing hoarding installation for Sky at their offices in Isleworth, Middlesex.

When we were approached to design and build this unique hoarding we were met with many challenges due to space, height, suspended floors and logistics but the biggest problem we faced was completing the project in a very active building and of course the hoarding being under the 24 hour live Sky News broadcast booth!

A project of this nature required meticulous planning and organisation. City hoardings spent many hours working out the logistics right down to how much weight the suspended floor could take when we wheeled in the 4.5 tonnes of ballast to hold the hoarding framework upright.

As with all projects we design and build, a structural engineers report was produced so that we knew how much ballast we needed to hold up the framework and subsequent 227sq metres of printed banner. Each of the bespoke ballast boxes were pre made and flat packed to site to keep the noise and dust levels to a minimum.

The framework was build and completed over two 10 hour night shifts.

We then wrapped the entire structure including two double opening doorways with 227sq metres of Sky branded printed vinyl block out banner. The fixings top and bottom were then covered with matching printed headers and kickers to make the entire hoarding look clean and flush.

Finally once the new installation behind the hoarding had been completed, we dismantled and recycled the entire build during a Saturday shift so that Sky could showcase the big reveal of their new installation first thing that Monday morning.
